Welcome to the Community Alliance & Action Network! “We are here...” for you! C.A.A.N. has a Board of five directors who serve two-year terms. Gini Lester, 1st Vice President:
(Term Expires June 2011) ![]() Gini Lester lives in Joliet with her partner of 15 years, Babs Sehring. Gini is an RN in the ICU at Community Hospital in Northwest Indiana. Gini remembers when the only place to meet other LGBT people was in bars. She is working to make sure that that is not true in this day and age - even in the suburbs. Gini is an active participant in the Will County Green Party and with Cool Joliet.
E-mail Gini.
Donna Greer, 2nd Vice President: (Term expires June 2010) After working with Ms. Greer on several projects in our community we were lucky that she agreed to nomination and was elected to the C.A.A.N. board. Ms. Greer is founding member of Island Girls and is a community activist. Donna has been active in getting the trans support group going at the center along with Dave. Stephanie B., Secretary:
(Term Expires June 2010)Stephanie is new to the community and is dipping her feet into the pool on the deep end. Stefanie was elected to finish out Diannaha's term as secretary after Diannaha moved to New Orleans with her boyfriend. Stephanie is the smiling face at the center if you're one of those who likes reading a book or generally chilaxin' there. Louis K., Treasurer:
(Term Expires June 2010)Louis is our super hero from the closet. He came to the C.A.A.N. Center not knowing anything else but his own nature and failure to fit in a mold laid out by his church and family. With C.A.A.N. he discovered people just like everyone else he had always known. He came to understand and accept himself and is living his dream of having a family. Paul Brumbaugh, Librarian: ![]() Paul is one of the first board members. Though he is no longer on the board you can see Paul at the center working on the book his is researching and writing except when, hammer in hand, he's modfying or fixin' yet one more thing in the offices. We are extremely grateful for Paul to keep the ceiling up over head and, along with Stephanie, the C.A.A.N. library in order. Dave S., TNT Supervisor : Dave is the compassionate, understanding but firm, soft edge for the young people who come to TNT on Tuesdays. He advocates for the youth to the board and he provides fun and interesting things for them to do. It is because of Dave that there is always a room full of kids on Tuesdays. |
